TRUFFLES INKS DEAL WITH LEVEL GROUND Victoria Times Columnist, April 9, 2012
The Truffles Group of Companies has signed a three-year deal with local fair-trade coffee importer and roaster Level Ground Trading. The deal includes Truffles donating 50 cents for every pound of coffee over the three years to the Opportunity International's Partners in Hope Project, which assists entrepreneurs in developing countries - in this case Columbia - with micro-financing. Truffles owns the Canoe Brewpub and Truffles Catering which provides food services at Royal Roads University. Level Ground, based on the Saanich Peninsula, will purchase coffee, cane sugar and dried fruit from about 5,000 farming families in eight countries this year.
Interesting factoid from Doris
Truffles has been a partner with Opportunity International Canada for the past 18 months. The Truffles Group COO, John Reese and Level Ground Trading, Founder Hugo Ciro participated on an Insight Trip and that is where the dreaming to partner as organizations began. Jamie Hubick had the pleasure of meeting with the leaders from both of these companies this past week and he has advised that they are continuing to think of new and creative ways to engage corporately. A key part of our vision for this coming year is to engage businesses across Canada having them choose Opportunity as their Charity of Choice!
